Okay, so I don’t have perfect Angelina Jolie lips. In fact, I don’t have perfect lips at all, my top lip vanishes when I smile and my bottom lip pouts out. And I’m a smiley sort of girl, I have 3 children, it’s a given, so my top lip is very rarely there!
I’m also a lover of the deep dark red lipsticks, the darker the better in my opinion, however, because of my vanishing top lip, I can never get them to stay on me. the always wear away and leave a very visible line around the edges – not a good look, especially for a makeup artist who’s own face is a walking portfolio!
In recent years, I’ve given up on wearing true lipsticks and have become a gloss fanatic – again, the darker the better. I’ve been through juicy tubes, the whole of the clinique counter, MAC, dior, you name it, I’ve been there, but again, they just seem to wear away.
That was until Rochelle O’Brien recommended Urban Decay’s 24/7 lip liners. I’m a massive fan of their 24/7 eyeliners anyway, so whilst passing Boots a few weeks back, I had to go and have a look and see them for myself.
I bought Naked for my kit and Gash for myself (see, I told you I love dark red!). I also happened to accidentally (!) stumble past the Lancome counter, drawn as only a gloss queen can be, to their display of Laque Fever Lipshines.
Having decided that I loved the idea of a long lasting lipstick, but there sadly being no dark shades for me, I bought a palest sheer pink with a hint of sparkle (did I mention that I like sparkle too…!)
The next day, having got up at silly O’Clock to be ‘Mummy’, I tried out the lip liner and used it all over my lips, as I would with any lipstick. It is rather matte, so it needed a gloss. Oh whoops, why don’t I just test out the Laque Fever while I’m here rather than adding it to my kit.
Magnificent! The combination looked perfect. Gash is rather dark for 7am, and even 9am on the school run, but the lipshine toned it down enough to be less Red Carpet vavavoom and a bit more demure Mummy at the school gates.
Taking a break out from work at lunchtime, I happened to pass a mirror and was really surprised to see that my lips were still perfectly made up! After that, it was an hourly vigil to the mirror to see how they were lasting out.
I managed to get from 7am through breakfast, coffee (2), dinner, coffee (1), apple, coffee (1) and through to 4.30pm when it just couldn’t make it through afternoon tea and had gently worn off.
So does it past the longevity test?
Absolutely! 8.5 hours? More than you’d normally expect, and no lines around the edges, just naturally smoothed itself off!
There are some brilliant longlasting lipsticks on the market, Estee Lauder and MAC both make particularly good ones, which I have used in a professional capacity, but I feel that they ‘roll’ off and bobble, rather than wear off slowly.
For me, with the odd-shaped-lips, this is absolutely perfect and is my now daily wear, and I plan to stop by a Boots soon to stock up on more for my kit!

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been out and bought both of these based on your review, and agree with how well they last and how gently they fade away! A great tip, thanks!

Great information! I’ve been looking for something like this for a while now. Thanks!
