MAC Viva Glam

When one hears about AIDS and HIV, it’s one of those diseases that no-one really wants to talk about, and they bury their head in the sand a little, whilst hoping it never happens to them.

Back in 1994, MAC created the MAC Aids Fund (also known as MAF!) with a view to raising money and awareness of Aids and just how it’s spread, how it can be stopped and how we can try to change the way we perceive AIDS and HIV.

This was followed by VIVA GLAM II, a lightly pinked mauve. VIVA GLAM III, a foxy brown plum lipstick was launched in 2000. VIVA GLAM IV, a heartfelt rose charged with gold, was introduced in March 2002.

In March 2004, VIVA GLAM V, a pearlised terracotta plum, hit the stores, with a lipglass to sit alongside it, and 2.5 years later, VIVA GLAM VI was released, with a lipglass and special edition lipstick.

For me, my staple in my professional kit is VIVA GLAM V, the perfect shade for any look, shoot or wedding day.  It’s perfect for a no-makeup makeup-look, looks amazing against a full on smokey eye, and for the busy woman, grab a pair of shades, scruff up your hair into a loose knot and slick on some VIVA GLAM V lipglass and you’re instantly glamorous.

MAC decided to give every penny and cent made from the sale of a VIVA GLAM lipstick or lipglass to their fund, and with money raised currently standing at over $135million US dollars, it’s worth buying one just to support the cause.
