NADS Facial Strips, Wands and so much more!

Okay, so we’re a makeup and hair site, however, you can’t get a perfectly made up face if you haven’t got perfectly made up brows and upper lips….

Well,  in actual fact, what’s the point in making a beautiful face if the rest of your extremeties are in need of a little ‘ahem’ maintenance…?

So, when I was able to get my hands on one of NADS brand new facial wands and some of their other bits and pieces, I decided to put some to the test.  However, because I’m not a regular brow waxer or bikini line waxer, I had to bring in some backup…!

The lovely ladies who’ve left reviews below helped out with the following products!

Original Gel

Facial Wand

Body Strips

Facial Strips

Naughty Nads bikini design kit

So what did I test?  Well, I’ve tried out the body strips on my legs and the original gel.

The body strips were so so easy to use.  Rub them between your hands to warm them up, smooth them down your legs, snap back and…..

….. oh, no pain!  I braced myself,  expecting to be sent through the roof, but I actually said, out loud, ‘oh, well that didn’t hurt’ and proceeded to merrily wax the rest of my leg, having expected to be rather patchy!

The gel was a little harder to manage, particularly as I really am a waxing novice (bad experience – pre wedding, not good on honeymoon, won’t say anymore!), and the gel is rather thick.  I needed to stick it in a sink of very hot water for about 10 minutes to get it to a consistency that was spreadable.  After that though, it was easy.  Spread it on, smooth on the backing strip, whip off!  Again, no pain!

A definite convert over here!

Oh and if you haven’t heard of NADS, it’s a great story behind a great brand!  Sue Ismiel’s young daughter Nadine, had an excess of hair on her arms that she really couldn’t bear, and found regular waxing either too painful, or she developed an allergy to it.  In an attempt to alleviate her daughter’s suffering and embarrassment, Sue took to her kitchen and with totally natural ingredients, developed what is now known as NADS.  With her 3 daughters, they created the rest of the range, and all work together in developing new products.

I found these very easy to use. No tubs, no spatula and no heating in the microwave. Basically, no mess! You simply apply the strip, rub a couple of times to warm the wax and whip off. Painless and easy although I did have to go over the same spots a couple of times. This may be down to my inexperience of waxing myself as I usually go to a Salon. Having just emigrated to Australia I have found local Pharmacies stock Nads products and will happily use again and I am happy to recommend.

I found them easy to use and painless on my chin and not as painful as normal on my top lip. They removed longer hairs but not short ones which to be fair it does say on the packet. Whilst this is okay on other areas, it’s not so good on your face where I tend to remove the hairs the second they appear for obvious reasons. I’m afraid that although the product seems good, I wouldn’t use the facial ones again and I’ll be sticking to hair removing cream and tweezers to save the embarrassment of having to grow the hair first.

ok, i did my legs this morning and was pleasantly surprised at the lack of pain and mess that I’ve experienced with other waxes. However, it only took off some of the hair and I ended up shaving the rest off. It also took longer to wax than shave and as I’ve no patience whatsoever, I think I’ll stick to shaving.

    Ok here’s my review:

I tested the Nads bikini design kit which comes with 4 different shaped templates to shape your hair down there! The two “beginner” shapes are a landing strip and a triangle, with the more advanced shapes being a heart and a bolt of lightning. As a relative novice (I usually shave), I decided to go for the landing strip as it seemed the easiest to do. It is a really simple procedure. Remove the sticker shape from the backing paper and press firmly onto the area you want to remain hairy. I found I had to press quite hard to get it to stick, but once there it was fine. Next you simply apply the hot wax with the spatula, whilst holding the shape in place with your other hand. So far so good.

The instructions say to only work on a small area at the one time, so that’s how I did it. Then once the wax is cooled, you simply grasp the end and pull it quickly off. It wasn’t as painful as professional waxes I have had before, which was a bonus! However, I did find that the shape wasn’t as clear as it could have been and this led me to tidy up the edges with a razor to get them sharper. A minor cosmetic point though and it could have been down to user error, as overall the kit was really simple to use. Next time I might be brave and try the heart shape!

I’ve been testing the wax strips and love them! not painful at all, like Sam, I also had a bad experience in a salon and was wondering why I’d agreed to test these at all. Pleased to say that they really didn’t hurt, there was a little pull, but nothing compared to how I’d felt before. Will definitely buy again!

I tried the wax gel pot with the washable strips and it was okay. A bit of a pain to have to sit the jar in a sink of hot water, although the wax didn’t get hot, you have to work really quickly with it to smear it onto your legs. Top tip, have a hot dry towel to wrap around your legs so that the skin warms up. I found out the hard way that the gel cools almost instantly on your legs and you can’t move it or spread it.

Once I’d mastered it and got my own technique though, it was really easy to use, smear on, strip on, rip off. no pain and very little mess. A Particular bonus is that the gel dissolves in bath water and doesn’t float all around the top!

At home waxing can be a bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it, its really not all that bad. The wax strips are pretty much goof proof and really easy to use. Similar to your experience, I was expecting more pain than there actually was, a pleasant surprise!

One of the best things about Nad’s is that it cleans up with just water. I’ve used other drug store brands and none of them are easy to clean up and often leave you feeling sticky *gross* another added bonus is that they don’t test on animals :)
