Well I guess that this time of the month is that time of the month. No, not that one, but the one where everyone starts talking about what’s in their beauty box. Whether it’s Glossy, Boudoir, Latest in, or someone else, there seems to be a Beauty Box, and probably a Beauty Gripe out there.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve never been sold on the idea of Beauty Boxes. I’m of the type to quite happily investigate products on a counter, and then ask for samples to test on my skin, and have no qualms with doing this… (that’s what they’re for, right?), however, living in the depths of North Wales, where my nearest beauty counter is a squashed sisterhood of Clarins and Estee Lauder crammed in the back of a pharmacy, it means that my beauty inner goddess never gets to come out and play!
I am very fortunate in both my jobs as a Makeup Artist and Beauty Writer, that I get to try a lot of not-easily-available products, and products that are yet to hit the market, but looking through someone else’s eyes, I can see the appeal of trying samples of products that are otherwise totally untestable.
We’ve all seen the gripes and grumbles about GlossyBox and Boudoir Privee (as was), and seen that one person got annoyed that another got a sample of Freak, or that you got a hopeless shade of eyeshadow/liner/gloss/fillinyourowngrumble, and today I’m reading that some girls are unhappy with their samples of Clarins, whereas others wish they had it.
You can’t please all of the people all of the time, and these are just 2 of the regular month on month Beauty Box Bashings that seem to go on.
What I don’t see though, is enough about Amarya. They first sailed onto my radar last year when I was researching Christmas back in the Summer (yeah, don’t go there, it’s almost Christmas season again!). I loved the look of their website; clean and crisp, easy to navigate, and almost a little clinical, but what stood out was that it was just effortless.
And when the subject of Beauty Boxes came up, I was very keen to investigate someone who hasn’t yet had huge headline grabbing blog posts. In fact, googling threw up just 2 on the first page…
But what makes Amarya’s Beauty Box so different? Well, it would have to be that the products are exclusively natural and organic. And if that’s your thing, then you’ll most definitely love this box. Mind you, even if you’re not (and I’m not!) totally natural and organically minded yourself, you’ll still love it.
With a £10 price tag, it’s right there with all the other boxes although these guys don’t add on postage, so literally £10 is the price you pay. And they guarantee to include a full size product worth at least £10. December’s box included 2 full size products, a Neroli Duo by REN worth £28, November’s contained a full sized Weleda Pomegranate Body Oil, October contained Dr Hauschka… you get the idea!
But sitting alongside that full size product is a little selection of other items for you to try out; Bodhi Moisturiser, SantaVerde Aloe Vera, Neom, Madera, and many others. Some of which are the sachet sizes, but there are larger tubes and tubs too. I’m looking at a 40ml Body Moisturiser here that is more than enough for a few body coverings! But even those little sachets are good for a couple of uses. Lavera’s 1ml sachets of serum can actually do at least 2 faces worth, if not more, so sachets aren’t actually a bad thing…
I haven’t yet seen anything that wouldn’t appeal to the everyone. Perhaps if you’re more keen on cosmetics, then this wouldn’t be the box for you, but if you like body and beauty products, you like the luxurious end of the market, and like to try something different, then Amarya is really one that’s going to be a given.
And there are different options for how to subscribe. Either sign up to a month by month payment of £10 and get a box in the first week of each month (you can unsubscribe at anytime!), or go all out and pay for 12 months in one go, which would be a good deal, based on getting a bonus of a £56 Santaverde set as a gift too.
For me, the appeal is that these products aren’t those sitting on Amarya’s shelves that they can’t shift, they’re new and current, and they’re the products that they really want to tell you about, and trying is a better way to experience something new than simply hearing someone’s sales pitch.
Its definitely worth a look at, and most definitely spend some time looking around Amarya’s website, it’s divine!
And please, lets get this really rather fabulous Beauty Box out there, and get them a bit of air space, they really do deserve it
Do you do Beauty Boxes? Do you love them, loathe them, and which one do you get?

(Luxury) Beauty Box Convert…

Thanks for this post Sam. I’ve been looking into this box in recent weeks as it’s the kind of skin care I’m drawn to and funnily enough I’ve recently ended my subscription to Glossybox. Dianeuk01 x
You won’t be disappointed. It’s such a great website anyway, with really luxurious products, and getting a selection of those in a box is great. I’m really impressed!
I love the Amarya beauty boxes & have been a subscriber since October last year. I also get Glossy Box, but after a very disappointing Limited Edition Valentine’s Day box, which I received yesterday and finding out that they don’t give all subscribers the same products (some people are getting either more luxurious brands and or a better variety of products), then I don’t think I’ll be one of their subscribers for much longer!
Amarya on the other hand have got it right on many levels; selection of products, brands, packaging, free postage, subscriber offers and excellent customer service. If I had to recommend a beauty box it would definitely be the Amarya one.
As the review says, Amarya is more skin/body care, however there was an eyeshadow in the October box (Terre D’Oc) in a neutral shade (Jaipur 503).
