This weekend, I discovered that 3 of my darling NARS blushers had been removed from my kit. And not by me.
I don’t know when this happened, and I don’t know who by.
It’s a sad, but fairly regular occurrence to lose the odd lipstick, single shadow or brush, but to lose 3 blushers in one go is quite literally daylight robbery.
In nearly 12 years of cosmetics, I’ve never lost anything as substantial as this, so I think I’m fairly safe to say that the following tips do work well. To a degree…. products with bungie cords attached perhaps???
Don’t lay your entire kit out on a table
Even if it does mean that your products are handier to grab. If they’re more easily available to you, they’re more easily available to someone else.
Don’t walk away from your kit.
Even if to nip to the toilet. Apart from that being a hygiene issue in itself (pee first or after, not during!), you’re risking a 2 second lift of lipstick from table to pocket.
If you’re exhibiting, put only a handful of products on your exhibition table
Use this as an opportunity to show examples of the brands you use, not as a way to show off how immense your kit is.
Keep your kit behind you.
If you do have to lay out your kit because you can’t work any other way, then lay it out so that you’re between it and anyone else.
Ask that people don’t stick their fingers in your kit.
Again, that’s a whole hygiene issue in itself, but people are inquisitve, they do like to see what you’re using, and if they use the same things, just ask them nicely if they’d mind waiting until you’re finished, and that you’ll be happy to talk cosmetics when you’ve completed your job.
We all like to think that those who are around us in our working lives are honest. And in most cases, they are. But now and again, we do see that our kit is dwindling a little. Sometimes it can be that you’ve simply accidentally thrown a brush away with your disposables, but not every time.
It is sort of part and parcel of the job, and that’s incredibly sad, however, hopefully using those few tips above, and simple common sense, and you’ll keep your kit a bit safer for a bit longer.
I’m now going to stock check my kit to find out if anything else went missing, whilst surfing the NARS online store to repurchase those missing blushers.

Such a shame that someone woudl stoop that low
Hope you find them tucked away somewhere but know that it is unlikely xx
Ive had it happen to me but it wasnt NARS it was these Collection 2000 cream puffs…..who would wanna steal them?
