Love Makeup? Then you’ll love Love-Makeup!

So you love your products and you love your brands.  You love it that you can hit the high street and stock up in Boots, Debenhams, Selfridges and other ‘usual’ retail outlets. But you also love to have high end professional brands.  Whether they’re for you as a professional makeup artist, or just because you love products.  Maybe you’ve had a personal lesson from a pro makeup...

Daniel Sandler SS11

Daniel Sandler SS11
As a professional working makeup artist with far too many years under my belt, it’s fair to say that I see a lot of seasonal trends come and go, repeat themselves, then reappear a few years later.  It would also be fair to say that I’m a very fussy makeup artist and expect a phenomenal amount from a product, and for it to even make it’s way into my kit is a huge deal, let alone into...

FrontCover Cosmetics Customisable Palette

FrontCover Cosmetics Customisable Palette
It’s not rocket science.  We’ve all been out and bought an eyeshadow quad and used 3 colours right down to the bottom, but never touched the 4th.  While all quads are thought out cleverly, no matter who the brand designer is, there’s always one colour that we’re a little wary of. FrontCover Cosmetics have created an affordable range of customisable palettes that’s easily...

Green Dream

Green Dream
Is it fair to say that all colours are season specific, or are suited only to one hair colour, skin colour or eye colour?  Is it possible that one can use every colour of the rainbow, assuming the right tones have been chosen? A firm believer in this, whilst I’d love to wear grass green tops and scarves, I know that I can only where yucky manky khakis and sludges, but the same isn’t true...

Eyeshadow Base. Is it essential?

Eyeshadow Base. Is it essential?
So, you’ve spent 30 minutes creating a perfect makeup look.  The skin looks gorgeous, the eyes are perfect, the liner is a steady line, and the lips look fantastic.  Fast forward 4 or 5 hours and you pop to the ladies, catching a glance of yourself in the mirror on the way.  Where did the makeup go?  The foundation slipped off and the eyeshadow has smooshed into a couple of creased lines...

New CID Cosmetics

New CID Cosmetics
Normally, the product testers do individual reviews, which are posted here. This week however, one of our Moderators from the forum, the lovely Kylie Toft decided that a couple of lines was enough….  I have to agree, and the ensuing conversations were too amusing to leave out.  So copied here for your reading is the current ongoing conversation from the forum which you can access here!!! kylie Posted:...

Yellow Peril

Yellow Peril
Its all about the Yellows this week, with everything from nails to eyes, liners to bathing products, and some things in between, yes even lips…! Yellow can be sunny, it can be caramelly, it can be bright and it can be muted, but here are some top MAF picks for Yellow products to help you consider spring! Oh, and because MAF is based in North Wales, some Daffodils as it’s nearly St David’s...

Kiss it Better for Great Ormond Street Hospital, with Clinique!
This is the 4th year that Clinique have got together with Great Ormond Street Hospital to raise money for their Children’s Charity, and this year, as always, the products that Clinique have launched are second to none. Body Treatments in Pregnancy from Elemis

Body Treatments in Pregnancy from Elemis
Perhaps I’m touching on an area more than I would do normally, purely because I’m pregnant, but often Beauty Writers do draw on life experience and personal opinion, so with that in mind, I took an opportunity to talk to Elemis about their body treatments during pregnancy. One of my brothers took his wife away in 2009, to a spa hotel (who shall remain nameless, and using a brand that I...

To Prime or not to Prime?

To Prime or not to Prime?
In an age where women put their makeup on at 7am and want to still look amazing at the end of the day, but without having to reapply their makeup, the ‘how to achieve’ this is getting easier as modern technology inside products gets better and better. I’ve been a priming type of makeup artist for many years, but still come across both consumers and makeup artists who don’t prime,...

Orange (A)Peel!

Orange (A)Peel!
Like so many things with makeup, its easy to get into a rut, same colours, same products, same face every day. Time to step out of that comfort zone, and into some colours! This time, we’re featuring oranges (and a coral or two!).  But don’t ever be scared of colour, with a good quality eyeshadow, you can buff it down to a mere hint of colour, or use it as a flash line on your upper lashes. ...

A new trend for Pregnancy Cravings? Beauty Products – Lush!

A new trend for Pregnancy Cravings? Beauty Products - Lush!
There’s something about smells that hit pregnant women in a way like no other.  We are all aware that women crave various things during pregnancies, and are put off others.  Usually at random. Having never had particularly bizarre pregnancy cravings, the usual very juicy fruit, orange coloured foods, I thought they were relatively tame until I developed a craving for Lush Rock Star soap. Not...
