I was watching Beauty Day on QVC at the weekend, and watched a couple of demonstrations for false eyelash sets by Eyelure.

It interested me that the expert didn't do the basics for decent false lash application. She just stuck them straight on without any prep of the lashes beforehand.

So incase anyone doesn't know how to get the best look out of your falsies, complete all your eyemakeup first, curl your lashes, apply mascara, then apply the lashes, and if you want to get your lashes to really join up with your natural ones, apply the glue along the strip edge of the lashes AND slightly up each lash itself. you'll find that they'll then bond to your own lashes aswell, rather than sitting independant of them!

Bless her, wasn't she nervous. Her hands were really shaking, I did feel for her, though she came across really confidently when she was talking.

I do wonder though, if they can't demonstrate curlers and mascara because you're 'meant' to not need them Confused

as for semi permanent lashes. Aren't they just regular false lashes?? Cos they're not permanent, therefore aren't they semi permanent!!!!

Just kidding, I know they're different, but it does amuse me when I see local salons charging £30 for semi permanent individual lashes. I've had many a bride have them applied 2 or 3 days before their wedding, for them to have then come off, and they've had to ask me to apply fresh ones. I happily do, and they kick themselves that I apply individuals for free...

I know bless her, thought she was v pretty. The lashes did look lovely on all the girls.
I did toy with the idea of having the individual lashes done at a salon for the big day but i love my mascara. (Got the lacome hypnose at superdrug!!)

I'm pretty good at putting on my falsies now, and i like the fact I do exactly as you say you should, Sam! Very Happy

I really want to try the singles- i also know a few friends have begged me to learn how to do them so they can get, but just buying them brings up issues....singles or bunches? and how best to apply them?!
I tried the bunches and found not only did they look very obvious, the medium size were a tad short and the long too long... help

I have never used fals lashes in my life, so it has only recently come up since learning to be a mua.

I decided to try on myself 1st so bought various lashes & tried putting them on with the free glue! ohhh dear.... i was all fingeres & thumbs & after 1 min, they started to come away, especially at the inner corner (no matter how much glue i put on Crying or Very sad ).
I had to do a glam foto shoot so decided to try the glue you get from mac counters (sorry, forgot the name scratch ).
What a difference - i can now put them on like an expert!!!
So if anyone is struggling, take a look at the glue you are using - it really does make a difference.

Individual lashes seem daunting at first but with some practise you can achieve a very natural look. If you want to apply mascara I would do it before hand, they are much more delicate than strips and if they are wiggled they come loose.

I tend to space them out as desired along the outer edge of the lash line. To apply I get the person to look ahead and gently tweezer them into place and make sure that they are not at an odd angle.

Glue does make a difference. I found that duo lash glue is the best for both individuals and strips. Personally, I hate the "salon" glue that I've seen on a number of sites (an example is Dimples) I'm talking about the stuff that honks and makes you're eyes water. Anything that tells me I need to be in a well ventilated room is a big no no!

Has anyone tried Kryolan's black glue? I've been using Ardell black for a while and I'm quite happy, but it's always good to try other things!
