MAF isn’t a new site.  Not even nearly!

The Makeup Advice Forum started in 2005 after Sam found on a particular wedding planning forum that she was being innundated, on a daily basis, with questions on how to apply makeup, how to choose and select makeup shades, where to shop, where not to shop!

It made perfect sense to have the questions all in one place, so the very original MAF website was created and extremely well supported.

Very quickly, Sam realised there were more questions than she could handle (her middle son, Luke, was only a few months old at the time!), so Lauren Sally and Kelly Hollands were drafted in to help advise, quickly followed by Juliet Cunnington, Rochelle O’Brien and Samantha Chapman.

At last, as fast as questions were being asked, they were being answered.  No one likes an unanswered question, you feel most unloved!

Faster still though, was the growth of the directory, and before we knew it, we had makeup artists all over the UK, helping out ladies, brides, photographers and stylists.

The very original messageboard went by the wayside extremely quickly – it just couldn’t meet the needs of our ladies, so a new one was created.  It’s sadly out dated now, and with the emergence of this brand new look site, comes the brand new look forum, all the messages are still there, the tips, the links, the recommendations, the daily chatter, but new and improved!

Our directory is also new, with regionalisation for ease of use, and at last, space for mini portfolios and biographies!  How long we’ve waited for this!

So you see, although this incarnation of MAF appears very new, and yes, the dates on everything start in May 2009, we actually go back to 2005, when a (probably hormonal), pregnant makeup artist dreamed up an idea, and got it off the ground, with a 6 month old and a 2 year old in tow.

Sam now has another baby, to add to the trio (all boys in case you were wondering, no daughters, yet!), so you can perhaps understand the delay to getting MAF dragged into the modern age, but we’re fiercely proud of MAF, of what it represents, of who it represents, and those ladies, and few gents, who make MAF what it is now.
